This series was made for The Calla Campaign, an initiative led by the Center for Global Women’s Health Technologies at Duke University in collaboration with the Center for Documentary Studies and the Health Humanities Lab. This campaign works to bridge inequities in sexual and reproductive healthcare through technology, storytelling, and art. Learn more about the campaign at www.thecallacampaign.com.

This work tells the story of a 28 day menstrual cycle, and the format references a package of birth control pills. The titles of each piece are part of a single poem, and the imagery and words inspired directly by the physical transformations that can happen throughout a cycle. The cervix softens and opens, hardens and closes. The ovum acts as an archive, a keeper of blood memory, a prophecy.
